DOUGLAS COUNTY

The Southern most county of the metro area is Douglas County.  Once a largely rural area, now the county has become one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.  The towns of Parker and Castle Rock are the two primary centers of influence for this rapidly growing area.

There has been a rapid increase in new home subdivisions, particularly on the northern edge bordering Arapahoe County.  The county blends rural atmosphere with the proximity to the city.  You will have the choice of new communities such as Stonegate, Castle Pines North, Clarke Farms, or Stroh Ranch, to name just a few.  The carefully planned town of Highlands Ranch is designed to accommodate a self-contained community of some 47,000 residents.  If you want exclusivity, nothing compares to the country club mountain atmosphere of Castle Pines Village.  Want to get back to nature?  The more rural lifestyles with houses on two to five acre sites with horse facilities are found throughout this area.

The county is convenient to shopping in suburban Southeast Denver and to the offices and facilities in the I-25 corridor.

The Douglas County School District has programs comparable to their neighboring suburban districts.  New schools to accommodate the new residents moving into Douglas County are in various stages of planning and development.
