THORNTON
Located 10 miles north of downtown Denver, adjacent to Interstate 25 and within close proximity to Denver International Airport sits an area of the metro-plex called Thornton. The population as of March 2001 was 85,698 people. It is comprised of many subdivisions that range from the brand new, to the older areas with large trees and that “neighborhood” feel.
Some of the largest Employers in this area are: TeleTech (1500), Adams County School Districts 1& 12 (1360), EchoStar (1279), American Furniture Warehouse (565), North Suburban Medical Center (550), Nature Smart (480), and the City of Thornton Municipality (462).
Thornton schools fall generally into Adams County School Districts 1 and 12, there are four high schools, five middle schools and fourteen elementary schools.
It has easy access to downtown, DIA and the mountains or cities north of Denver. In Thornton, there really is something for everyone!
